So Inlove In His Music

I could clearly remember that the last time I was a fan, crazy fan to be exact of a singer or group of singers was when I was in highschool. I bet you could still remember the time we've gone crazy shouting, humming, waving our hand and crying like there is no tomorrow. Westlife, Boyzone, Backstreet Boys, A1 are some of those boyband I hooked up with. Not to mention Mariah Carey, Celine Dion as the singers in the limelight.

Years had passed, I was busy studying, working, eating, sleeping and stressing myself out. But one day, I have watched a Youtube video of a singer named - Ed Sheeran. My perceprtion was - 'okey, wait, what is with this singer'. I mean he undoubtly play good song. Wait, he really did play his original composition? Like, 'what the heck, did he really composed all of it? and arranged those songs? No song revivals?'. 

I said to myself - 'wait,.. I need a break. What is with this man?'. I have searched his biography - a simple man living in United Kingdom pursuing his music career. Okey, nothing differs from other artist, except that music is in his blood (yeah, read it right, his older brother is a musician, and composer like him). 

My perception was that he is not different from singers mentioned earlier. But why can't I stop myself listening to his song? Why can't I turn off my phone playing his music for 24 hours already? 

Then an idea hit me. He is something else. This guy has something I neveer thought he would have. First, he had his concert without backup singers and dancers. Well, that is new to me. He is a one-man team I may say. He just had his loop recorder, also new to me. Hmm. Then what amazed me is he sings without voice filter and effects. And sings for 2 hours. It was like going to his concert will be worth the money you paid for. Never in my entire life that I have witnessed, watched or heard a concert like that. Well, it is new and any other artist can do that, and copy what he did.

Second, is that his songs reflects our daily activities, our daily life, our existing problems. You really need to study the meaning of his song, and feel it. Another thing I have noticed is that he likes his lyrics to play in a rhymes, reason why his songs are soooo pleasant to hear, it is soothing to one's ear once you play it you can't stop.

Lastly, why I am addicted to him and his songs is because I have seen a person who has passion for music. He plays while closing his eyes, singing with all heart out. His passion amazed me for he is the only existing singer I now who sings without inhibition, without pretentions. Singing in his rugged jeans, simple shirt, uncomb hair, unshaved beard - just him, simply him. I have watched an interview - don't know from what TV station or segment - but I was laughing really hard and fell in love more on him when he was asked how he felt when he is with Taylor Swift - and just answered that he do feel like Frodo Baggins, a Hobbit, of Lord of the Rings, while Taylor is like an Elf. I am amazed how frank his answer was, and realized that indeed he look like Frodo. With his answer, my respect for him tripled, as I wish he was my close friend cause he is soo cool to that point that he isn't afraid to make fun of himself. 

And another one.. the last, yes, really the last reason why I love him to death, his compassion to help other people. Helping without hesistation, and doesn't expect anything in return. Best example is when he sings in a wedding, a surprise song number for a newly wed who got married because of sponsorship of a radio station. Then he sings smoothly 'Thinking Out Loud' imparting that his song can be his greatest gift for the couple. Such a sweet guy and a touching scene.

And last, but not the least, last reason hopefully (for the nth time), is his willingness to share his music to other artist. He acknowledges and appreciates the work of other artist, and on his part, is really grateful if people, celebrity or not, is willing to share the compassion he also has. It flaunts my admiration on his craft. On his art. On his music.. 

Oh wait, save me.. I feel like he is a cigarette or alcohol, because I can't stop myself hearing good music from him. Oh I really love him, and his craft. And if I would be given a chance to ahowcase what a real singer is, he will surely be on my TOP list - a singer should be, no doubt about that.
